Sometimes being uneven is the point. BETTER THINGS (on FX) is careless-yet-acutely-observed, unpredictable, risk-taking, funny-painful, personal, daring, engaged, sensitive and calmly-outrageous. It throws genres into a blender when it’s not throwing them out the window and trying to blur the boundaries between art and life.
Seasons 1-4 may be required viewing for anyone interested in the possibilities of screen stuff. I have no idea where it’s going next but I can’t wait to see.
